I’ve just deleted over 100 so-called comments on various posts on this site. Thankfully it only takes a few seconds, I do it regularly.
The posts go straight into the trash bin, never to be seen again. Actually they’re never see at all. For the sake of the terminally dim each of these apparent nuggets of insight are held pending approval by the overall site admin. That’s me.
From time to time someone posts a valid comment and I’m more than happy to let that stand but most of what drops into the comment inbox is just – dare I type it – S – P – A – M. No more, no less.
That’s been the procedure on the sites I’ve run ever since I’ve had websites. In the early days it was harder to spot but as the internet has developed and particularly since the move to WordPress it is so much easier to control the dross that gets sent our way.
Please guys, and I’m flattered that you’re writing from Russia, China, all points east and west, just don’t bother. Let’s all have a peaceful, quiet 2022. Leave the dumb comments out. They haven’t got through these last 15 years and they’re not going to now.
Just less than two weeks after this post I’ve kept a tally of the number of responses I’ve had to my various posts. Just to give you a feel for what we’re dealing with one post, about photobooks, has been commented on with the wonders of an otherwise illegal substance and its abilities to “cure” all manner of ills. I’d like to tell you what the Chinese and the Russian comments are about but I haven’t a clue.
Total? 117 spurious posts.
It has taken two bulk edits and less than five minutes to consign these to the waste bin. But please guys, please stop wasting all our time with this nonsense.
