How to Print From Our 35mm Scans
We scan all our 35mm slides, negatives and medium format stock so that the scanned image appears to be the same size as the original. This can cause some concern when you look at your scans.
When you open and attempt to print one of our digitized scans, you might be shocked that the print dialog box says that you can only make a 1.343" x 0.895" print from your scanned photo. That's because the resolution is still at 2000 ppi or 4000 ppi, which is way beyond what you need for a print.
To correct this using either Photoshop or Photoshop Elements, open the Image Size dialog box. Uncheck the Resample Image box, and change the resolution to 300 ppi. Then click OK. If you're using Preview, go to Tools -> Adjust Size and uncheck the box "Resample Image," then change the resolution.
Now the print dialog box will say you can make something more reasonable, such as 12" x 18" print from your scanned photo.

If you use another photo editing application such as Apple's Aperture you'll find similar commands are available.
Commercial EnlargementsIf you use a High Street printing facility such as Boots, or an online service they will take care of this for you automatically.
