Photo Streaming

A simple, reliable, economic way to get your scanned photos on TV.

In minutes.
Over the last year it's been noticeable that the number of clients wanting us to undertake large volume photo scanning has grown significantly. We have scanned libraries of over 10,000 35mm slides and similar volumes of photo prints. But how can you enjoy your scans when we send your digital files back?

We are routinely asked if we can scan into multiple folders to make our client's task of organising their photos easier, that's no problem. But what about burning a large collection of scanned photos onto around 100 DVDs?

Why? Simply because one client thought this was the only way he could think of to view his images on TV. He had in mind a large number of albums or slideshows that he could put into his DVD and look at his scans on his TV.

Just think - that's 100 bits of plastic to burn, 100 discs to label, 100 discs to store and keep track of, and a fair bill - in my local Sainsburys that's some £33 of plastic. There is a better way. Apple TV.

This is a small box, it will fit easily into the palm of your hand. It outputs an HD signal to your TV and links via your home wireless network (or ethernet if you prefer) to your PC (both Mac and Windows). Using simple, free software (Apple's excellent iTunes) you just point to the folder(s) in which your photos are stored. You don't have to copy your images into iTunes and this process doesn't stop you editing any of your photos. The box costs under £90, you can get them from online suppliers, PC World, Apple Stores or even Argos. You can get the devise up and running in under 30 minutes.

With the Apple TV you get a remote control unit which controls a simple screen interface through which you can see your photos. Just select a folder and a second or two later your photos are sent over your network onto your TV screen. The quality is stunning. When you add more images, either from a photo scanning project or from your digital camera, they're instantly available on your TV.

There are other things you can do with Apple TV such as listen to music or buy films to watch. The key technology is the creation of a stream of data containing your images rather than struggle to create multiple DVDs. Other manufacturers make alternative streaming devices, including Sony.
